Katol
is an ancient town referred to as Kuntalapur
in ancient literature. This historical town is a tahsil place in
Nagpur District of Maharashra State. It is well connected by rail
and road to big cities like Bhopal, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Banglore,
Jaipur, Mumbai, Raipur, Bhilai & Kolkatta. The weather remains
pleasant throughout the year, with average rainfall of 80-90 cms.
The town is very peaceful, with many educational institutions of
higher education. The town was in forefront in freedom struggle.
Educational awareness is very high in the population with very high
rate of literacy even in villages around this town.
Introduction
Shikshak Prasar Mandal (SPM) was founded in year 1960 with generous
donation from shri bhikulaji Nabira so as spread higher education
in this area as it lacked the facilities of higher education. Late
Barrister S.K. Wankhede (The creator of famous Wankhede Cricket
Stadium, Mumbai) as the founder President of Shikshan Prasarak Mandal
till his death. |
